GOD's Next

Image above from NationStates Forum Mega churches, big ministries, big crusades, most number of churches planted, most number of church members---a lot of church people still go for these. The church is still blind to them, thinking the more and the bigger, the better and greater. We think the more we have in our hands, the higher our position in the Kingdom is, the more God is pleased with us. It is generally seen that generals of the Kingdom are the great ministry performers on earth. The same was assumed by Samuel when he wondered who the next king of Israel would be. He saw Eliab and decided he must be the guy---with his appearance, height and everything. But the Lord rebuked him. "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." Because God is our Father and we are children of God, we are given  god status , as it were, to be distinguished from mere plain humans who have nothing in God. Click here to see post. We are born again or born from above  (born from God) which is something not to be taken lightly for its tremendous potentials and latent power. We are not gods, in the sense of being pagan idols, but children of God given god status . But we are not to go out publicly and declare to everyone that we are gods. This is something to be pondered within ourselves. Publicly, we show we're only humans, but not like ordinary folks who do not understand God's spiritual realms. To natural man, this is all nonsense. But we take this seriously in our inner man and live out its inherent and concomitant character principles in our lives and relationships daily. Image above from Flickr.Com It's with a small "g," gods . I'm sure God didn't mean to say we are Gods like him, or we are gods like pagan idols. But he did say it. He told sons of the Most High, "You are gods," [Psalm 82]. And we are sons and daughters of the Most High in Christ, aren't we? Yet he also told them they'd die like mortals because they understood nothing---particularly, nothing about God's will on justice. They sided with the unjust and wicked. They did nothing about the weak and needy, the oppressed and the fatherless. I've read expert commentaries that said this statement was just God's mock at those who claimed to be God's people and yet disobeyed his will. So it was just God's joke , as it were, and we shouldn't take the, "you are gods" seriously. But then, somewhere in the Gospel, Jesus made it clear (and took it seriously) that there was nothing wrong if the Jews thought he was claiming to be
